Education

HSE University MIEM – Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics

I attended a school specialising in computer science, where we were offered a choice between a course in desktop publishing or database programming. I chose both courses. By the time I was in my final years of secondary school and my first years at university, I was already professionally developing bespoke database management systems using the programming languages FoxPro, Clipper and Microsoft Access.

I spent 5 years studying software engineering and artificial intelligence at the Department of Automation and Intellectualisation of Management Processes at the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (part of the National Research University Higher School of Economics). Fun fact: later I was invited to teach at the Design Faculty at my university.

As a hobby, I’m still passionate about programming and maths. I’m particularly inspired by computer graphics and extreme optimisation (so called size coding or demoscene). I sometimes take part in coders competitions and even win. I have a separate website where I post my programmes written in pure Assembly language – for example, a driver for super-fast emulation of extended arithmetic instructions.

What you see above is written in just a few lines of the GLSL programming language. If you are interested in size coding, tiny demos and display hacks – check my Forth project.
